WHO WE ARE

Transforming African Agriculture

The SAPZ project is part of the Feed Africa Strategy launched by the African Development Bank (AfDB) to transform agriculture into globally competitive, inclusive and business oriented sector that will create wealth, generate gainful employment and improves quality of life. program promotes increased productivity, value addition, market access and private sector investment in select agricultural value chain commodities. The focus is on the promotion of commodities that have a high potential to boost export revenues or import substitution.

WHAT WE PROVIDE

Our Core Components

The SAPZ program promotes
increased productivity, value addition, market access and
private sector investment in selected agricultural value chain commodities. The SAPZ program has four broad components

Agricultural Infrastructure Development

Provides support for the development of enabling climate-adapted infrastructure for agro-industrial hubs

program coordination & management

Establishment of a decentralized project implementation arrangement & ensure all project is effectively & efficiently managed

policy & institutional development

Supervision consultants will be engaged to produce supporting agro-industrial zone policies & institutional developments

productivity & enterprise development

Improving agricultural productivity & enterprise development to enhance value chains & job creation in catchment areas

Creating a value-chain for capacity development through Agro-industrial programs

About 1.5 million households are expected to benefit directly throughout the agricultural value chain. This includes private agribusinesses, agro-processors, smallholder farmers, agripreneurs, and agro-dealers. SAPZs will create at least 400,000 direct jobs, and a further 1.6 million indirect jobs during construction and the operational phase.

Ongoing SAPZ Agricultural Projects

SAPZ will play a major role
in bringing about agricultural
transformation and build the
capacity to produce large stocks of marketable food products for local and global market, making Africa a net food exporter.

SAPZ FCT PROJECT

The FCT-SAPZ is an agro-based spatial development initiatives designed to concentrate agro-processing activities within areas of high production, processing and marketing of livestock (beef and dairy).

OGFTZ PROJECT

The Ogun Guangdong Free Trade Zone (OGFTZ) is one out of a group of eight free zones which have been designated to be formed in Africa and is  developed with the help of the Chinese government.
